Karen(Jstoehr@mediaone.net), Aya(Ayabean@aol.com), and Liz (Liz Young@aol.com)
went to the Boston concert on June 26th , 1998.We are all 14 years old.
Susie, Liz's mom, took us to the concert. Our story is written in Karen's
point of view, but Liz helped write it. =)
As we drove up the entrance of Great Woods I just looked out the window in
awe. We were really there. Wow. At the end of the driveway we were directed
by a line of people with yellow shirts to our parking spot. There were cars
and vans in the parking lot with things like "We're going to a Hanson
concert!" or "Hanson or bust." or even a couple "Honk twice if you like
Hanson!" Almost all of them had posters hanging in the windows. Susie asked
one of the yellow shirted people if we could roller blade while we waited.
She said that we could just as long as we watched out for cars. It was funny
how people stared at us as we put on our blades, making comments of how they
should have brought theirs or that someone (wonder who) knows that Hanson
rollerblades.
I was so happy that we could finally get off our butts and rollerblade. I
pulled my hair back in a ponytail and put on my sunglasses before putting on
my blades. Once everyone had their rollerblades on we headed for one of the
empty parking lots. Aya and I went ahead of Liz and Susie. No, Susie wasn't
rollerblading she just walked with us.
Then the real fun started. I was doing my crossover circles when we noticed
some cars going up the main driveway would slow down as the passed us. Ha ha
we brought our rollerblades! Then we realized why they were slowing down.
The girls in the cars must have thought that I was Tay or Zac. In the MMMBop
video Hanson was rollerblading...even doing crossovers. Now I had an excuse
to go off at top speed and do crossovers to the best of my ability. Every
time a car drove by I would go off doing crossovers all over the place and
jumping over the weeds growing through cracks in the pavement...that was
involuntary. We all just laughed hysterically.
I think there were two or three cars that went by where the girls hung out
the window waving to me. I happily waved back. I don't know how many cars
drove by, but there were quite a few. But I continued to loop around as fast
as I could, sweating in the 85-degree weather. The disadvantages of long
jeans kicked in. The cars kept coming. One car even looped back past us
again to get a second look. We did that for about 45 minutes. Near the end I
almost tripped a couple times and we knew it was time to call it quits.
Liz and Aya led the way as we headed back to the car. I was close behind
them still trying to catch my breath. Susie trailed behind us because she
didn't have wheels. As we headed back we made jokes about our little
rollerblading experience. When we reached the car I was still sweating a
whole lot. Apparently my face was red too. All I really wanted at that point
was some water. We took off our rollerblades and quickly put on our shoes
(when your feet are that sweaty the last thing you want to do is take a
whiff). Aya and I sang along quietly to "Soldier" which someone was blasting
from their car. Once we got on our shoes and everything we heard screaming
coming from an entrance into the pavilion. Shrieks of "Hanson! We love you!"
and "Oh my God!" stood out from the noise. The four of us decided to head
over and see what the commotion was about.
As we got closer to the source of the screams we realized that Hanson wasn't
over there. There was a group of girls hanging around the side entrance where
trucks of souvenirs were coming out. Like a parade the flock broke into
smaller groups, each following a different truck or staying at the entrance
hoping to see Hanson. We followed one of the trucks to the concession stand.
As we stood around we noticed the variety of different people that would be
attending the concert. There were girls with tiny Tay tails peeking out from
under their long hair. Then there were the girls who wore bright yellow pants
and boots like Zac's. We also saw quite a few girls with their hair
completely done up in Zac braids. Then there were the friends that wore
shirts that said "We Love Hanson" on their shirts, one word on each person's
shirt. The brown Hanson shirt seemed to be the most popular. There were also
more discrete Hansonites (like us) that wore tank tops or whatever was comfy.
I think we would all agree that the most interesting person we saw there was
"the purple girl". No she wasn't actually purple that's just what we called
her. She got her nickname from her very weird outfit. She wore a long purple
skirt with pieces of black lacey material close-pinned around the bottom. To
top off the outfit she wore a cheap, silvery tiara with a purple lace veil
hanging from it. And as if the clothes weren't freaky enough, she had like
purple star/flower thingies lined with black painted around her eyes. Whoever
said that Hansonites were freaks? Not I. She was the only girl who truly
scared us...thank God.
With so many excited fans hanging around Great Woods's security was all over
the place. At one point while we were waiting a group of girls near the back
entrance screamed. That caused a commotion at the stand. A group of girls
sprinted to the source of the screams. Why they did I don't know. We could
hear Hanson having a sound check inside... not at the entrance. We toyed with
the idea of screaming, just to play with their heads. Not too much later a
large purple bus with tinted windows drove by. Most of the people ignored it,
but a few smiled and waved. Apparently another bus had gone by earlier. A
security person that was sitting on the barricade told Susie that that bus
contained the back-up band. We waited a little longer before we decided to go
sit down.
The crowd around the concession stand was growing and we could see people
leaving with souvenirs so we went and joined them. Susie gave Aya and me each
$15 to buy a program. The stuff for sale was way too expensive. We squeezed
out way into line. As I stood there, sweating from the heat and the people
closely packed around me, I looked around reading signs people made and making
comments to Aya. Two older people asked for the time while we were standing
there.
The closer we got to the stand the more I worried about how we were going to
get out of the crowd alive. After waiting what seemed like forever we made it
to the front of the line. Liz asked and dealt with the money. Aya and I just
stood there. They handed us our programs. Liz got a poster too. I couldn't
wait to get out of this crowd. I had been squished and hit on the butt way
too much in that time period. I turned around and lead the way back. I did
my best to be polite, but no one cared. Finally I was just like "Excuse me,
Coming through!" Some people moved others had to be moved out of the way. As
I said, "Excuse me" to this one woman she just looked at me with this really
grumpy face and said "No." I wasted no time trying to figure out what her
problem was and just went around her...hitting her in the process. Liz clung
onto my shirt and Aya was behind Liz. I hadn't realized how big the crowd had
grown. Finally, we made it out and we could breathe.
Susie had been waiting for us on the grass and came over to meet us. We had
decided before even getting in line that we were gonna put our treasures in
the car and then come back. On our way to the parking lot a woman looked
shocked to see us going the other way. Susie said that we were bringing our
stuff back to our car. The woman sighed with relief...she thought the concert
was over and we were leaving or something like that.
After throwing our new goodies in the trunk we tried to decide what to bring
back with us. Liz had earplugs and wanted to bring her hairbrush (she won't go
anywhere without it). Originally I was going to take my little black backpack
thing in with me, but I didn't feel like lugging it around. Liz tied her
jacket around her waste and loaded the pockets with the stuff that we might
need. She said that she felt stupid walking around with a jacket in such heat
and humidity. We left it at that and headed back for the pavilion. On the
way back we heard them practicing "Gimme Some Lovin'", specifically Taylor's
solo part for the transition to "Shake Your Tail Feather"...happiness.
It was around quarter or five so we still had some waiting to do. We went to
the grassy hill by the place last time and sat down. Susie went to get some
bottled water. The three of us sat quietly for a while listening to the sound
check. Hanson sang pieces of "Where's the Love" and we joined in, but kept
our volume down so we could hear them. When Hanson stopped singing for a
second after "Where's The Love" a group of girls near by screamed at the top
of their lungs "We love you Hanson!". We stared at the wall behind the
barricades which was dividing us from the bestest band in the world. What
more could you say than "Wow."? While listening to the sound check Liz
pointed out how after this day was over, we would be perfectly content just to
be able to be back here...listening to the sound check. Her theory has been
proven true. Sitting there on the hill we heard Hanson practicing "Gimme Some
Lovin'/ Shake Your Tail Feather", Where's the Love", "River", and "MMMBop".
I, probably Liz and Aya too, felt so very special to be sitting there; not
only in the same time zone, same state or the same city...we were on the same
property as Hanson.
After what seemed like quite a while Susie resumed her spot on the hill next
to me with a six pack of bottled water cut so there were only four there. She
handed them out. All was quiet while we quenched our thirst. That was, we
were quiet...the people standing in line however would scream quite loudly in
occasional waves of delight.
The three of us looked at each other with puzzled faces, wondering what was
going on over there. So we decided to go over and find out. Susie led the
way with the three of us walking side-by-side behind her. I hadn't noticed
before now how extremely large this line was. It extended down the entire
parking lot, beyond my vision, and was wide enough for 10 people standing
side-by -side in places. Barricades lined one side of the line, while a
really big wall lined the other side. We stood with a growing crowd of people
on the opposite side of the barricades. Just about everyone in the line was
looking toward a small passageway above the wall. There was building looming
above the wooden wall with a small entranceway that disappeared behind a
fence. On the closer side of the fence a pathway wound around and disappeared
behind the trees. Then we saw what the screaming was about. Two blonde
heads bobbed by as they entered the building. Liz and Aya screamed with the
rest of the crowd, I just laughed and continued to watch the opening.
Then I started to get a little suspicious; I didn't think much of it at the
time. The two obviously blonde heads passed back and forth, back and forth
through the entranceway. People with hats passed and the screaming would stop
until the blonde haired people passed again. Then this person who looked
amazingly like Ike, and possibly could be Ike, poked his head around the
corner of the fence and waved. The screaming followed and the person
disappeared. Then another person came out. This one was probably a girl, but
her hair looked like Zac's hair. She popped out and the screaming picked up.
I was still debating whether it was Hanson or not when this obviously gay lady
came on to the pathway wearing a hat with moose antlers. She started
hollering and clapping...no one was amused. Then these two people with blonde
hair came out from behind the fence and started waving; their hair was in
front of their faces. Now this was just too much.
The two blonde people disappeared behind the fence again, but the gay lady
stayed out. At this point most people were beginning to doubt that that was
really Hanson. Some people in line had binoculars and they repeatedly
announced that these dorks were NOT Hanson. Then the final give away came out
from behind the fence. Three blondes came out with their hair over their
faces. We had a problem with this because all three girls were the same
height and all seemed to look like Zac. Last time I checked Hanson was three
different people and were different heights. Some girls continued screaming
for no apparent reason. I felt like booing at these impostors, but I decided
against that. Some people in the line booed and demanded that the real Hanson
come out just because those dorks were so very mean to toy with our heads.
Almost everyone was yelling at the mean people behind the fence, but Liz was
complaining that she had to pee. No one was happy at that point.
The crowd continued to curse at the mean people up there, but they still made
appearances from behind the fence. We were expecting another impostor when
this very large man came out and just looked at the crowd as if he were
waiting for some sort of reaction. The crowd was not happy and gave up
looking at the fence up there. Even though no one was looking, the gay lady
still continued to come out and holler for her own enjoyment. If they had
been any closer to the crowd they wouldn't have lived to see the concert.
The anger aimed toward the impostors faded away when the line began to move.
As we moved up the barricades we saw that the police tape between some of the
barricades had been broken. The line moved more quickly than we expected. We
cruised along with the rest of the happy Hansonites and Susie gave us our
third row tickets. Liz got seat number seven, even though mine and Aya's
lucky number was seven...oh well, who really cares? Susie also gave Liz the
proof of purchase slip thing which Liz just shoved in her pocket. Aya got
seat number six, in between me and Liz. I of course got seat number
five...for those of you who can't count. Nothing could stop us now...we were
almost to the Hanson concert.
Now that the line was moving, you could feel excitement level rising. As we
rounded the corner, we saw many people watching from behind a rod-iron fence.
Police were there to hold them back. We had almost made it to the main
entrance when I saw a sign that said no food or beverages allowed inside.
Since we still had our water bottles, we had to throw them away outside the
entrance. A staff member directed us to the second line waiting to go inside.
That was where the line stopped moving so quickl.
LizThe girl in front and to the left of Liz kept asked her the time (She askedfor the time about every five or ten minutes after that), Liz just gave herthe number of minutes left. There was also a group of girls in section 4 whowere trying to sing MMMBop, but they didn't do too well. We sat there, talking about how this was really happening and listened to the music in thebackground. It was 15 minutes before AdmiralTwin was going to come out and we noticedthat people were starting to go up front. We decided to go up front too. Webounced down the aisle and got to the barrier thing. After standing there fora total of about 10 seconds, the grumpy mother poked me in the back and toldme that I was not going to stand in front of her. I growled under my breathand moved over about a centimeter and just thought how incredibly selfish andannoying this lady really was. I didn't have much time to think about thatthough. The staff people (including the weird lady) told us to go sit downbecause they didn't want anyone to get hurt. We sat down and whined about howdumb that was. She said we could go up and then made us sit down. Ummm, hello? I told Aya and Liz about the grumpy woman poking me and sat there insilence. I was once again ticked yet happy to be there. The up front incident was soon pushed to the back of our minds when Liz sawWalker Hanson off to the side of the stage. Liz asked Aya if that was him;she didn't know. Aya leaned over and asked me if that was Walker over there. He was standing behind the speakers so I couldn't see him. Then he movedforward and crouched down next to one of the electrical people. Yup, it washim all right. Aya and Liz squealed once again with happiness. Liz and Ayasaw the tops of some guitars bouncing behind the speakers up back, theycouldn't see the people carrying the guitars. There were only about 5 minutesleft until show time. The three of us were now standing, anxiously awaiting for AdmiralTwin tocome out on stage. Finally, the other band from Tulsa appeared on the stage.Admiral Twin probably wasn't as comfortable as most people would want to be onstage. All four band members were wearing suits and ties. We were hot fromsitting around waiting, never mind jumping around playing on stage. Thelighting for AdmiralTwin went on, and there was one slight problem. They hadlights on the right and left sides of the stage and the lights criss-crossedin the middle. The light on the opposite side of the stage was shinning rightin our faces. But we were too happy to really mind them that much. It's weird how I can remember almost every detail before and after theconcert, but the actual thing seems like a blur. AdmiralTwin played one songbefore introducing themselves. The first song gave us a feel of what thisconcert would sound like through the 26 speakers that were stacked up besideus. AdmiralTwin's music has a whole lot of base to it. As the drummer bangedviolently on the drums, I could feel my individual ribs shaking. That wasvery weird. Aya said she felt the same way. Of course, the grumpy lady infront seemed to be sleeping through the entire thing. During the first song, Liz and Aya let out a lot of energy that they had been saving all day long.It started with jumping, which led to dancing and swaying around, to butt-bumping each other. I think we were the most energetic people in the crowd.Even the girls, who were sitting behind, who called the drummer's name out andhe waved did not compare to our sugar/Hanson high. At first a lot of peoplewere holding up signs for Hanson, but after a little while they put them down.We were having a blast and we hadn't even seen Hanson yet. After the first song, AdmiralTwin introduced themselves for the first time. The only name I recall is Jarrod Gollihare, the drummer (because he wroteHanson's official biography) he got the most applause. Before they startedthe next song they reminded us that they were AdmiralTwin. The beach ballsthat were bouncing around the crowd earlier were still going, and multiplying. There were now about six or seven balls bouncing all over the place. Theballs kept bouncing up on stage. One of the band members said that he likedthe bouncing balls. Cool. We were still standing (unlike most of the crowd)and continued acting like lunatics. That's the way to go. Walker was nowstanding behind the speakers, so all we could see of him was his head, bobbingup and down to the music...he was grinning the whole time. We think he saw usand seemed to be laughing. I noticed that Admiral Twin likes to use "oooo's"and "ohhhh's" as background parts. At one point Aya and I looked at eachother and went "oooo" along with the band. We continued that for a whilebefore Liz caught on. Those were the only parts we could understand. Admiral Twin played from 7:00-7:30. During that half hour, they told us thatthey were Admiral Twin at least 10 times. They also told us that their album"Unlucky...by Admiral Twin" was available online. Gee, what was their nameagain? The people with the beach balls got a little carried away withthrowing them on stage. The band member closest to us was playing thesaxophone and they were throwing beach balls at him; he just kicked them back.I think Admiral Twin played about six or seven songs... I wasn't payingattention, I was just having fun. After Admiral Twin played they announced that Hanson was up next, like wedidn't know that already. Instead of Aerosmith, Wallflowers music startedplaying in the background while we waited for Hanson to arrive on stage. Atfirst all three of us continued to stand and wait for Hanson, but after about15minutes Aya and I sat down...Liz stood the whole time. During AdmiralTwin's performance the seats next to Liz were empty. At intermission thepeople finally occupied them. As we hung around we just talked a little bit(mainly about how we must have looked during Admiral Twin) and watched thestage for any sign of Hanson. Aya and I heard the sound of rain hitting the roof over us. We told Liz.When we looked at the floor we noticed it was all wet. We had left our cheesyprograms on the floor and they were now soaking wet. That's why I don't havethat program anymore. The three of us recognized the Wallflowers songs thatwere playing. It was weird how on each chorus part, everyone in the place wassinging, but in-between that people just carried on conversations. We saw people gathering up front by the barrier, but no one was shooing themback to their seats as they had done to us. At that point we were boxed intoour seats by the rest of our row. Oh well, we still had better seats than wehad ever imagined before. Walker had been hanging around the stage, and then he disappeared and cameback with a video camera. He video taped the stage set up and when he wasover by the drum set, someone behind us yelled out "Walker!!" No way. Heturned around and came to the edge of the stage. He started video taping thecrowd. He was practically right in our face. We jumped up and down waving, like just about everyone else. You could hear the wave of screaming andyelling "Hello!!!!" moving with the camera. Liz saw Zac standing at a doorbehind the speakers on the opposite side of the stage. I of course, could notsee him. She tried to show us, but the most specific she got with herdirections was "Over there!" Where would that be? Walker did a couple moreloops with the camera before heading over to tape the other side of the crowd. After that, he disappeared back stage again. Liz saw Zac and Tay run across the back of the stage to our side of the stage. It wasn't too long after that when the three of them ran out on stage. The moment we had been waiting for had arrived. We screamed and startedjumping like lunatics once again. Ike was wearing black leather pants and ablack short-sleeve shirt. Zac wore a tan army camouflage shirt with khakipants. Tay was wearing a silvery shirt and maroon pants. Taylor was the onlyone with his hair down, the other two had theirs in ponytails. Once Tayreached the keyboards he looked over at our section. The whole section wentnuts...including us. Then the first few notes of "Gimme Some Lovin'" r
ang out through the building. Everyone in the crowd stood up and screamed at the top of theirlungs. It had officially begun. After a few seconds, Zac joined in with thedrums and soon after that, Tay started to play the keyboards. As soon as Taystarted to play the curtain dropped. There were people standing between thebarrier thing and the stage who grabbed the curtain and pulled it off thestage. We and the rest of the crowd (well, except the parents and staff)clapped with the song and sang along with the few words we actually knew.Walker and another guy ran out with video cameras and started taping Hanson.I think the other guy was taping the stuff that showed up on the big screensso the lawn people could see. When Taylor had his solo part that started"Shake Your Tail Feathers" you could barely hear it above the screaming.During "Shake Your Tail Feathers" we went insane. Liz and Aya were over doingthe twist when they bumped into each other. Everyone had their own uniqueversion of the mashed potato. After the first song was done, they talked to the crowd. Tay asked how wewere doing.(hmmm, let me think about that one); everyone screamed and applauded to let them know everyone was having a blast. Then Tay asked if we were hot too; it was extremely hot and humid. Of course everyone screamed "yes!" or tried to at least, Liz lost her voice by now. After Tay wiped hisface with the towel he had on the keyboard stand, they proceeded into thesecond song. Now it was really dark outside and the cool lights from behind the oil derricks beamed on them as they played their instruments. The other cameraman kept walking around Tay as he played; Tay glimpsed over at him every once in a while but focused on the crowd. Ike kept hopping around whileplaying the guitar, almost in circles-Zac of course kept banging the drums asusual. Now the beach balls were flying around the stage. Some just bouncedon and off the stage, others flew back toward the speakers. The more we danced, jumped, and sang the more we shifted to the left. Oncethe song ended we had shifted about 3 seats over. Liz ended up over next totwo little kids who copied whatever she did during the song. Soon the songsblurred together almost as a dream. Before they sang "River", they introducedit as their current music video. During Tay's piano solo a big shriek camefrom the crowd, and he smiled at the response. Suddenly, they announced they were going to leave the stage, but promised tocome back. Their staff crew came out and set up stools, a lamp, and Tay'ssmaller single piano. The three of us looked at each other and knew what eachone was thinking; we immediately broke into a chorus of "Back to the Island"......"I got to go, I got to go, I got to go back to the island". Wedanced and made a fool of ourselves, and we still wonder if anyone behind thespeakers witnessed this. People were confused at the sight of the lamp. Thenthe 3 Car Garage backdrop curtain fell down behind the small set up and thingsbegan to make more sense. The curtain was made to look like their garagebehind them. They returned and people were happy and relieved. Tay took hisshirt off. Ike welcomed us to their garage. Then he continued on talking about how their new album was 3 Car Garage, and how they recorded it and such things. Ike had a little trouble adjusting his mike, and while he did thatZac made goofy faces and comments to the crowd. "With You in Your Dreams" started up and everyone swayed along. The three ofus unfortunately could not keep the same rhythm; we kept bumping into eachother, which sandwiched Aya between Liz and I. When that happened, the kidsnext to us got bumped into. Many people waved their glow necklaces in theair. Some people cried because they were so touched by the song. After theyfinished that song, they were about to continue with the next song when Taystopped Ike and Zac from singing and briefly whispered something to them. Then Ike announced that they were going to throw a curve ball at us and sing asong that they had sung that afternoon; he said it was called "Money"(coolname). So they started this new song no one knew, but people clapped alongand enjoyed every minute of it. When they sang "money, that's what I want" wehad to wonder if this sounded funny to anyone else. "Soldier" seemed very long as it is on the Cd, but everyone knew the words tothe long toy tale. Tay whipped out his tambourine, and Ike found a newcomfortable position in the chair, but also propping up his guitar. Duringthis song the beach balls were flying again, and one hit Zac, who made a facethat wasn't too happy. When that ended, Tay and Zac left, and many peopleincluding ourselves were screaming at them like "don't leave us!" Tay promisedthat they would return after the one song was over. Ike played and sang "More Than Anything". We knew the words perfectly eventhough he said that we probably wouldn't know the song. Liz kept asking through the song if she should go get water. The adults around us kept coming back with water and she really wanted one. We sang along; most people didn't know the song and Ike looked kind of surprised when some people sang along. We cheered when Tay and Zac came back with water bottles. Tay came over and drenched us with two bottles; we were soaking wet after that. Then Tay saidthat we were cool now right? Ooooooh yeah! They took down the set and the curtain. The beach balls flew and Zac kickedtwo into the crowd; Tay threw one out. There was one by us and we were readyto try to catch it when Ike went over and picked it up and walked backstage. At this, Aya and I screamed "theif!" repeatedly at him. We could have caughtit. Speechless was played next. Now they did an instrumental sequence and Tay introduced the other bandmembers and everyone cheered for them. Tay ran over and played the drumsextremely well, and Zac ran up front and kicked a beach ball. Tay ran aroundback to the keyboard. Then after, Zac gave his drum sticks away. "I Will Come To You" began next. Tay sort of fumbled on the chorus, and heblushed a little since everyone else sang it the right way. At the end hepointed to Section 1 and 2 on the "youuuuuuu" at the end, but his fingerstopped there.; he didn't point to us! I hope it isn't a sign or something. Tay's congas were placed by his keyboard and our whole section shrieked whenthat happened. Once they were ready to go, they started up and Tay turnedtoward our section played and sang. The three of us sang along. I stuck mytongue out at him, and I still don't know why. Liz jumped the highest everfor the whole song. Everyone in our section savored every moment of himlooking in our direction. This was followed by a "Boston Rocks!" from Taywhen the song was over. Now Zac proudly displayed his light-up drum sticks that changed color; theyflashed really well because now it was completely dark out. We couldn't hearourselves talk now. "A Minute Without You" started and Walker jumped off thestage with his camera into the crowd to get the crowd point of view. Taydedicatd the song to the people in the lawn. A huge roar flowed down fromthere in gratitude. An "Ike" sign in front of us flew up. Ike kept lookingover at the Ike sign then proceeded to look at us with a funny look on hisface. The cameraman moved around Zac and taped the crowd over by Ike a lot. Now they led into "Summertime Blues" and Ike kept going over to Tay's mikeand sang with him. Then Tay left and grabbed his mike and encouraged thecrowd to sing the one line we knew "Well there ain't no cure for thesummertime blues" He ran back and forth almost tripping on the cord once. Then finally everyone screamed that one line with him over and over. Everyoneenjoyed very much. They started to leave and thanked everyone, but we knew they would come back. They left, and the crew came out to put the stuff away, and people actuallyleft! Then you hear from behind the speakers "Wait guys(to the staff) what doyou think you're doing? (Zac) Do you want us back?" The crowd went crazy-duh! Yeah, come back please! They were still behind the speakers, when Zac asked everyone to scream on 3, so of course everyone did. They ran out to their instruments again an
d started "Look at You". Walker was video taping oursection now, so Aya and Liz sang to the video camera across the stage. When the song ended, Zac came out and tossed water on us then handed the waterbottle to a girl with "Zac" written on her face. The girls in front of us wereeager to give their present to one of them at some point soon. "Man From Milwaukee" started and the Zac fans went nuts. No one couldunderstand the megaphone sequence because the screaming was so intense. Atthe very end of the song, Ike jumped off the drum platform and fell to hisknees. After, Zac gave his drumsticks to another girl in the audience over insection 3, again. Now everyone went crazy because they only had a 30 sec. song left(weird, acapella ). They grouped together in the very center front of the stage; allwe could see was Tay's back. It became sort of quiet and their voices echoedacross the building. When they ended, there was a huge roar of clapping, screaming, crying, and yelling. They went over to section3 (of course),accepted gifts, and shook hands with the people. Tay came over, and we reached out in vain to him, but we were a row too faraway. No one was in the row in front of us, yet we stood awkwardly hoping toget a reach from him. Many people gave him flowers and cards. Aya had oneleg over the chair ready to try, but he walked away. There was a kid with no emotions conveniently standing in front of me. Liz had no one in front ofher, but just reached and waved. We all felt helpless but happy that he cameover. They waved and waved and waved, looked around and LEFT! NOOOOOOOO! Itwas over, Nooo. We looked at each other in amazement. Was it really over?Yes. (sob sob) Liz kept talking about getting a drink; we could barely hear each other, soshe made motions of drinking something, she was almost completely dehydrated. We waited in the long line to exit where they checked our tickets. We went bythe door to find out about backstage passes when a frantic lady yelled out"VIP passes only, no MOE cards" Darn! People were throwing things over the fence where they probably were; people also looked through the holes in thefence and jumped to the top to look over. We veered to the right to the onlystand open with drinks. The line was long. I wanted water; but they didn'thave water-they were all out. We were all disappointed, but right thenanything would do. There was a man in front of us smoking, and we kind ofjumped ahead of him since he didn't look like he had been jumping a lot andwasn't tired. We got to the front and Liz ordered a large Diet Pepsi-the lastlarge! A half of hers was gone once I got mine. Aya got a medium Pepsi justlike I did. Liz grinned when we told her that she got the last large. Wewalked down the side, totally in shock about the fact that it was all overnow. I told Aya and Liz that we didn't want to leave, but we would have aproblem if we didn't. We met my mom and Susie in the circle by the hill we sat on earlier. Theysaid that they heard Man From Milwaukee, and they said people left in theparking lot and groaned when they heard the music kick up again now that theywere out. We all bombarded them with details as we walked to the Susie's car,we heard Middle of Nowhere playing, MMMBop, I Will Come To You, and Soldier atonce. We got to the car (almost, got run over by a bus since the policeman wasn'twatching), safely. Our drinks were gone, and we sat in the traffic runningout. We thought of roller-blading earlier. We all agreed we would do it allover again in a second. We exited the Great Woods driveway and sadly lookedback, all our excitement was over, but the memories would always flow throughour mind.
