The following sets of kanji compilations are a long and ever on-going task for me. Since there are so many general use characters the lists become rather immense and it's very time-consuming to make them. Time is something I don't always have a lot of, but I will do my best to add new material as often as possible. Keep an eye on the news section on the main page to notice additions to these lists.
Below are my flashcards documents. Simply download the document you want and open it with Word. Then first print out page 1, reinsert the paper in the printer and print page 3 on the opposite side. Now cut out all characters with a pair of scissors and you've got a perfect set of flashcards to use in your kanji studies. You will need IME and the font MS Mincho in order to correctly display the documents. These documents are ContactWare; i.e. if you download and use them I'd like you to send me comments, positive or negative, to my e-mail address.

This is my compilation of the jouyou kanji, the 1945 basic kanji you will need in order to fully understand Japanese texts. Here you will find the kanji plus their on-readings, kun-readings and meanings along with some example words for each kanji. You must have software that enables you to read Japanese characters in order to view these pages. These lists are ContactWare; i.e. if you download and use them I'd like you to send me comments, positive or negative, to my e-mail address.

Below are my lists of basic kanji intended as tutorial material for students in my classes at the University of Gothenburg, but hopefully they can be useful for others as well. They are only available in Swedish. You don't have to have software that enables you to read Japanese characters to view these pages.
