Young people |
| It is not yet clear how e g gender, age, driving experience, dose and
former abuse affect one's driving abilities. Young people in general tend to react faster
but are often less experienced as drivers than older people. There are indications that anti-depressive medicines may also pose a risk, though this is not clear. Some scientists mean that these patients are better drivers with their medicine than without it. In general one can say that there is a need of further tests to make clear which drugs/medicines are to be regarded as dangerous in the traffic. One should use clinical tests as well as laboratory and car simulator tests. It is also important that the choice of persons to be included in such tests is not limited to young, healthy people who seldom use drugs. In Sweden like in many other countries drinking and driving is forbidden, though the law does not include other drugs, which may seem strange. |
