Heimaey - The island that suffred from a volcanic eruption 1973. 5000 inhabitants were forced to rapidly leave their homes. The harbour was severely threathened by the stream of lava. The photo to the left shows the wiev from mount Eldfell towards the harbour. The photo to the right shows a wiev from mount Eldfell towards the mainland.
