Miscellaneous.

In Reykajvik there are some places of philatelic interest. Apart from the well known views, there are some places to visit in order to improve your stamp collection.

Frimerkjasalan - Icelandic Philatelic sales. Storhöfdi 29. Sells stamps and books.

Hja Magni - A mixed stamp and toy-shop situated on Laugavegur 15. The owner is an elderly man who seems to have a genuine interest in stamps.During my visit in the shop, I met the philatelist and writer Don Brandt, who seemed to pop in for a daily chat. Mr Brandt is an American living in Reykajvik since many years. He has written some books available through Frimerkjasalan. His main interest seemed to be Icelandic bridge cancellations.

Kolaportid - A flea market open during the week-ends. Situated on Hafnarstraeti. Here I found a shop with a good assortment of stamps.

At the crossing of Laekjargata and Bokhlödurstigur you can find a stamp shop. The owner did not seem to have any philatelic interest. The service provided was poor...

At Skolavördurstigur 21, there is supposed to be another stamp shop. I did not visit that one.

In Hafnarfjörur, there is a small postal museum.(below) The Museum shows mint stamps 1873- and a few items related to postal history.
