DVC-00 Racing

When we took the beast apart we soon also discovered
that the deck height left something to be desired.
Pistons were about 1,4mm down the bore at TDC.
Now one canīt really have that in a race motor, can one.?
We also soon took notice of all the scratches in the piston
skirts. After a little dealing with inside micrometers and such,
we noticed that the pistons had been running WAYY to tight in
their bores.
Apart from that-which by all means is enough,it is a RACE motor
after all-we took pleasure in that the bottom end was OK.

Then..we started looking at the heads
At first glance,we could clearly see that 6 out of the 8 holes hadnīt
been sealing.Valves were way off in colour for that.True enough.
When we checked it on a Miravac ,10 of those valves(in the 6 offending holes)
wouldnīt pull a vaccum if their lives depended on it
Job was supposed to be done by a reputable firm here in town.
Called a good friend of mine who works there to check the story out
Yup,the heads had been there alright, and when i asked WTF was up with the
job they performed on those heads he didnīt know what i was talking about
Figures i guess. If you donīt check...
When the heads were all apart we found 7 (!!!!) different valveguide types in them
This just beats me!
How the hell ANYONE can put something like that together in a set of as
expensive a heads as these..Yeah well..
