My name is Cassandra, but most people call me Cassie. I was born in 1978 in Gosford, a city north of Sydney, Australia. I lived most of my life there. In Spring, 1999 I moved to Stockholm, Sweden to be with Marre. I'm very happy here and although many people don't believe me I think it's much better than Australia. |

At the moment I study Swedish in Komvux. It's like TAFE in Australia or high school for adults. I study with other students of many other different nationalities. I have friends from Estonia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Italy and Zambia. I don't speak Swedish so fluently yet, but I hope to by the end of this year. I then want to study to be an English teacher. |

I have many interests. Where should I start? I guess my best interest is animals, especially birds and dogs. Right now I have an African Grey Parrot, called Ruby. He's such a joy to have. In Australia I had Budgies and a Lovebird. I also had 3 dogs. My most treasured was Aussie, a yellow Labrador. He was innocently killed 2 years ago, but will always be remembered. Perhaps within the next few years we will be able to have another dog (or 2) :-) |

At a close 2nd my next best interest would have to be travelling. So far, I've been to Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago and Dubuque (Iowa) in the USA, Tijuana in Mexico, Bangkok in Thailand and Frankfurt in Germany. Since being in Sweden I've travelled together with Marre. In Sweden we've been to Åre and from Stockholm to Uddevalla (east to west). Last Summer we went to Poland, Marre's home country and got to see Warsaw and Kraców. Then in Autumn we went to New York City. But the first time we travelled together was in 1998 when we went to the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I myself have been in all the eastern states of Australia (including ACT). I've been far north as Gympie and as far south as Phillip Island. I've loved all the places I've been to, but Chicago is my favourite city :-) Marre and I will travel to Australia again this Summer and get married, although I will go early to be with my mother who hasn't been so well lately. For our honeymoon Marre and I will travel to Cook Islands. We can't wait :-) |

Another of my best interests is computers. I studied computers at school and in university, but I've mostly taught myself how to use computers and their programs. I even taught myself how to design websites. I don't know what sparked off my interest in computers, but I know I couldn't live without one. I bought my own computer in Australia and I was sad that I couldn't bring it to Sweden with me, but when I moved here Marre surprised me with a brand new computer, just for me! Still on the subject of computers I also have a great interest for computer games, but not any games. I like strategy and knowledge games. My favourites are Civnet, Monkey Island, and Mindmaze. Marre and I have had a lot of fun with Civnet in the past. We play it against eachother on our network. Another game we also have a lot of fun with on our network is Midtown Madness. You can race against eachother, play cops and robbers, or just cruise. It's set in Chicago :-) |
Besdies all the things I've already mentioned, I like to play sports too. Almost every weekend I train for tennis. If it's warm enough Marre and I will also play at the courts across the road from our place and I always win. Also if it's warm enough we like to go rollerblading on all the paths in our town. In the cold weather, I like to go skiing, even though I've only been 3 times in my whole life. But the last time I went was in Åre, one of Sweden's best know ski-resorts and I learnt the proper way to ski from instructor Marre. My legs ached very badly afterwards, but it was a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again. I also like ice-skating very much. It's been a while since the last time. I normally go with my best friend, Vanessa. |
People who know me really well will know that I like Mickey Mouse very much. I don't know why. When I was 8 years old I sent a letter to Mickey Mouse and in return I got a big package with posters, stickers and a beautiful signed photo of Mickey himself. I then became a member of his fanclub and received more and more things over the years. Then in 1996 I fulfilled my dream of going to Disneyland in California and meeting Mickey Mouse in person. I don't believe I'm being childish here. I've collected many Mickey things over the past 15 years and to meet the real Mickey on the other side of the world and to see a little history about him in Disneyland was a dream come true for me. |
Last but not least, I like to go to the cinema, read and listen to music. My best movies are comedy, romance and drama, but I like thrillers as well. My favourite movies ever are Forest Gump, Father of the Bride I & II, Turner and Hooch and While You Were Sleeping. They aren't the only ones, just the first that come to mind :-) I've read quite a few books in my time. I like to read true stories the best, but they aren't always available, so I like fantasy and novels too. I will listen to any sort of music, as long as it's not alternative. I like Savage Garden, Britany Spears, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, M2M....singers/groups like that. I can't stand Spice Girls, Westlife or Boyzone. They really need lessons in music. |
