Hi,
Born in 1946, I started my flying career in the summer of 1963 with soaring
(segelflyg), and after 'studentexamen 1964' I joined the Swedish Air
Force and became a Fighter Pilot. You can have a look at some of my 'old days' in
the Photo Gallery below. Already in 1968 I quit the airforce for a civil life and
got job as a copilot for
Scandinavian Airlines System - SAS.
I have been flying as a copilot on the Douglas DC8, DC10 and the DC9, and
as Captain and Chiefpilot on the DC9, captain on the SAS/Atlas B747-200 Jumbo Jet Freighter,
(operationally belonging to Atlas Air, JFK, NY) and then the
Boeing 767-300. In 2001 I converted to fly with a "sidestick" on the largest "Nintendo" in the world - the new SAS
Airbus 340-300/A330-300. (See the moving picture).
The winter season 2004-05 I had the opportunity to fly and stay in Milano. I was flying the A330 for Lauda Italy (it said
Livingston on the aircraft) to all the best beaches of the world with nice stopovers.
However after becoming a 60+ guy who normally should have
been retired .... but no... the new air laws say you may continue to fly until 65. So why not, in 2006 I converted back to the
short haul and European route net. I was flying the MD80, the Mad Dog, for some three years.
I celebrated 40 years in the company in October 2008. Read a note of it in the Company Paper INSIDE in the Photo Gallery below.
Unfortunately the airline business has changed a lot in last couple of years and the company was forced to ground 18
aircraft in 2008-09. That also meant there were too many pilots employed and the company had ("forced") the oldest pilots (with guaranteed retirement pension)
to quit. So from Nov 19, 2009 I am a retired pilot.
My "homebase" was Stockholm (ARN/ESSA).
Weather was very important when I packed my suitcase going all over the world. By going to the
WEATHER page will help me - and you - to
check the actual and forecasted weather at the stations which SAS longhaul is flying to, plus Scandinavian Capitals and London.
I also have a special page called "Aircraft I have Flown".
Please go and have a look at the different types and the links they provide.
I am living with my family north of our Swedish capital Stockholm -
in a suburb called Sollentuna. Check the current weather
in Sollentuna.
Have a look at the current
AIR TRAFFIC "radar picture" over the middle part of Sweden.
If you are interested in which ships and vessels around Stockholm are RIGHT NOW, IN REAL TIME, you might like to play around with the map below:
