ssese islands

wednesday 23 february
We left for the islands early in the morning, got to the ferry right on time (noon) but of course it was late so it ended up being 1 pm before we left the mainland. An hour later we drove off onto Kalangala Island, the biggest of the 84 Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria. We headed for Kalangala, the main town, through beautiful forest and open fields, and from time to time we caught a glimpse of the water. We arrived at Panorama Beach...resort? Something like that... in the afternoon, where the YWAM team, Trevor, Jana, Chris and JJ would be staying. We had little cottages with sit down toilets (so exciting every time that happens) and the place was really nice. The Jesus march and crusade ended up being cacelled and so at night we just sat around and talked and enjoyed each other's company :-).

thursday february 24
In the morning we met to pray for the day and the crusade. We were supposed to do a conference at a church Thursday and Friday morning but instead of doing alittle each day we didn't go this morning and would do more on Friday. Before praying, Benjie felt we needed to "sort things out" with each other and so we took some time to bring things up and sort them out one on one. Then we prayed in small groups and after that came back together and shared:
- things to speak about at the conference (trust, humble leadership, hope)
- joy

- love
- Isaiah 51
- Philippians
- Enjoy everything
- Remember what God's done in outreach

In the afternoon we had a Jesus march - with that blue truck again! (Patrick from Mityana was with us on the islands) Rick and Benjie did Spiritual Warfare from the truck - it was tight. The march ended at the crusade ground (obviously - we didn't bring all the people back to our resort) where we prayed and asked God about the night. A lot of people had things to share, and our program came to contain a lot of sharing though we also did some skits and songs: Daisy on the floor (which we hadn't done since the conference in Mityana!), Come and meet with me... Benjie did the preaching - about God's wanting to be our father - and the altar call, people came up, we prayed for them and then we prayed for the sick. Actually more for everyone who wanted prayer for anything.

friday 25 february
We did the conference for church leaders in the morning. Grace spoke on Philippians 2:2-4, Chris on humility in leadership (Phil 2:5-11), Emily on hearing God's voice and Michèle on purity. It was very good.

Crusade in the evening, adn the joy of the Lord was really there! We prayed first and tried to get a sense for the night. Some felt that it was about standing in awe of God. Anyways, we started with Stomp and Chris and JJ did it with us :-).
